Highland Academy is a 6th-12th grade charter school that is focused on competency learning through a framework of standards that are aligned to District, State, and National standards. In addition to the core content areas, students are required to show competency on two areas unique to Highland – College and Career Preparedness and Personal, Social, Service. These two content areas promote social-emotional learning and personal growth which are critical components of Highland’s program. Highland’s Advisory program plays an important role in maintaining the school culture, integrating new students, community building, character development, and academic coaching. Students are encouraged to take an active role in their education as they master the core content and skills necessary for success after high school. Technology integration and project-based assessments are critical components of Highland’s rigorous model, as we prepare students to become the leaders of their lives.
