Student Life Overview

Before and After School

• Before School:

  • Students may enter the building starting at 7:30 AM.

  • Must wait in the Commons until released at 8:30 AM.

  • Hallways and library are off-limits before 8:30 AM.

• After School:

  • Students may remain in the building only for:

    • A school-sponsored club/activity, or

    • A meeting with a teacher or administrator.

  • Students not in a club or meeting must leave the building at the end of the day.

Lunch

• Location:

  • Students may eat in the Commons or outside.

  • No eating in hallways or classrooms during lunch.

• Food Guidelines:

  • Bring lunch from home — no refrigeration or microwave availability.

  • Food delivery services (e.g., DoorDash) are not allowed.

  • Full meals may not be brought back into classrooms.

• Eating Time:

  • Lunch must be eaten during the scheduled break — not during class.

  • Restroom use is encouraged during this time.

• Quiet Room:

  • A designated quiet space is available.

  • Students must follow posted expectations to remain in the room.

• Off-Campus Lunch:

  • Available to 10th grade or higher with signed permission.

  • Also available to students who have completed PSS Level 1 and have a signed slip.

  • Permission must be renewed each year.

  • Students must return on time and ready to learn.

• Food/Drink in Classrooms:

  • Allowed at teacher discretion.

  • Snacks should be quiet, drinks should be water only in a sealed reusable bottle.

  • No energy drinks or soda allowed on campus.

  • Filtered water available throughout the day.

Clothing Expectations

• General Dress Code:

  • Must be clean, safe, and non-disruptive.

  • Prohibited items include:

    • Pajamas, revealing clothing, or explicit logos

    • Logos promoting drugs, alcohol, violence, weapons, or hate

    • Clothing promoting gang affiliation or racism

    • Blankets, plushies, and stuffed animals

• Headwear:

  • Hats allowed (if they don’t cover ears).

  • Hoods not permitted.

Hallway Procedures

• During Passing Periods (5 minutes):

  • Walk in one direction.

  • No waiting or lingering in the hallways.

  • If a room is closed, keep walking.

• During Class:

  • May leave class only with teacher permission (not within first/last 10 minutes).

  • Must sign in/out and carry a pass.

  • Use quiet voices and do not disturb other classrooms.

  • Do not enter classrooms without permission.

Lockers

• Lockers are available upon request (see the front office).

• Located on the back wall of the Commons.

• Must be cleaned out by year-end or as requested.

Working in Common Spaces

• Students may work outside the classroom (e.g., hallway tables, library) with:

  • A teacher pass, and

  • Clear work goals.

• Expectations:

  • Work quietly and respectfully.

  • Clean up materials promptly.

  • Must show pass and explain purpose if asked.

  • This is a privilege and can be revoked.
